The Day of the Dead in Long Beach on 5th and Pine St was an example of people portraying The Day of the Dead as a party.  (Luckily, for this even we called in advance and received permission to record and take pictures, so we did not run into any difficulties.)  There were people drinking, dancing, and playing games.  We also saw some alters, but there were not a lot.

There was a small event at CSULB where there were performances and alters.  We only took photos.

One of the Aztec Dancers agreed to get interviewed outside of the area with the event.  He told us that he will come back at 6:00pm (it was 12pm at the time), so we waited. We were walking around and enjoying the event.  When it was 6:00pm, we could not find him.  He did not show up. So we started to walk around and saw people talking about what the real Day of the Dead should be about.  Day of the Dead is not some party where everyone portrays it to be, it is a time where so many people lost their lives which should not be celebrated.
